Have
you ever wondered how you would survive if you were lost
in the wilderness? Have you ever fancied doing your very
own bush-tucker trial? Well, Let us take you on the adventure
of a lifetime in the beautiful Welsh wilderness of the Brecon
Beacons national park to find out.
Whether you’re a Ray Meers wannabe, want to prepare
yourself for “The Day After Tomorrow”, or you
just want to try something completely different and have
loads of fun and adventure, then this weekend is for you.
Whatever your reasons we can guarantee you a wild and crazy,
fun weekend of survival. After a weekend with us, you will
be ready to take on anything Mother Nature can throw at
you.
This course is designed for the real adventurer as it takes
place in all weathers (the wetter the better). Not only
will we teach you all the essential skills needed to survive
out in the wilderness, but we will be putting your newly
learnt skills to the test!!! |
| Details
First
you'll get to meet your mountain leader and qualified rescue
emergency services. We start the weekend by learning how
to prepare for what’s ahead including essential survival
equipment and how to use it. Then we head off to “wild
camp” to learn and practice and experience all you
need to know about surviving the great out doors. Items
covered in “wild camp” include the following
as well as a surprise or two!!!
- No
one would last long in the wilderness without the essence
of life; the vital fluid – water. We’ll make
sure you never run short of the good stuff, learn how
to source and collect your water and once it’s collected
how to filter and purify it to ensure it's fit to drink.
- You
don’t need many things to survive in the wilderness
but we will teach you what tools you do need and both
how to use them and how to take care of them in the wilds.
- Once
you know our equipment and how to use it we are going
to test your skills with them as we first show you how
to build a bivouac before letting you build your very
own. I hope you were paying attention as this will be
your home for the night.
We will also teach you how to build longer term shelter,
just in case you do ever get stranded on that desert island…
- Once
you have somewhere to sleep you will need to keep warm.
One of the most essential skills you will need to survive
in the wild is fire lighting. We teach you various methods
of getting your fire started.
- Now
you have your shelter and your fire, you’ll need
to be fed. As snaring is illegal in this country we provide
fresh meats and foods. We can’t trap or hunt animals
on this tour but we can show you what to do with what
you’ve got out here in a world without microwaves
and fridges!
- There
is always the unfortunate eventuality that could occur,
who knows what might happen? This part will not only serve
you in the wild, but in any situation. We’ll make
sure you know what to do in the event of an emergency
and ways to avoid situations that could get you there!
You’ll be everyone’s best friend!
- Finally,
if you do find yourself in a dangerous situation, we’ll
show you how to get out of them using special distress
signalling to call for assistance.

| After
this fun filled weekend of survival you will be ready for
some home comforts. We get back to civilisation around 4pm
on Sunday and have a well-deserved shower before you have
to say goodbye to your new found friends and head home...but
it won't really be goodbye, it'll be 'see ya later!'
The
course finishes at approximately 16.30 on Sunday and includes
instructor (one to every 10 people), theory session on Friday
evening, accommodation on day one, shower facilities on
Sunday and full kit list. Fresh meat is provided as snaring
is illegal in this country, please inform us if there are
any vegetarians so alternatives can be provided. You will
also receive a certificate after the course so you can show
your friends just how hardcore you are!
Average
fitness levels required along with a good sense of humour.
Good
sturdy outdoor clothes and shoes and waterproofs needed.
