The World Black Pudding Throwing Championships

The epitome of Britishness...for some at least!

This incredibly strange and unusual custom dates back to the War of the Roses right back in the 15th Century when it's said both sides ran out of ammunition and the result was a huge food fight with each side throwing their traditional food of choice. The Lancastrians, represented by a red rose threw black pudding and the Yorkists, represented by a white rose threw Yorkshire puddings!

Black Pudding is a very traditional English dish of pigs blood congealed and stuffed with pig fat into intestine to make long sausages...sounds delicious right? Yeah, maybe it is better to throw them!

Before witnessing this marvellous event we'll head up to Liverpool and take a ferry across the Mersey before enjoying the famous Albert Docks, hearing tales of the Beatles and enjoying this city, the European city of culture 2008.
